Palmdale, California, is a charter city located in Los Angeles County.  In 1962 it became the first incorporated city in the Antelope Valley.  With a population of about 153,000, Palmdale it is the second largest city in the Antelope Valley, the 32nd largest city in California and the 158th largest city in the United States.  It consistently ranks as one of the top 25 fastest growing cities in the nation. Palmdale Transportation and Commuting

Palmdale is one of the largest cities in the country to not be directly served by a major Interstate Freeway or US Highway.  Major roads that do serve Palmdale include SR 14, SR 138 and SR 18.  The city operates the Palmdale Transportation Center which acts as a hub for public transportation services including Amtrak, Greyhound, Metrolink and the Antelope Valley Transit Authority.  Palmdale is also developing a series of bike paths throughout the city.  The nearest airports serving Palmdale are the LA/Palmdale Regional Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, and Bob Hope Airport in Burbank.
